Prologue, Intro to Part One, AND… Chapter 1 (First Peoples), Sections: Out of Africa & The Ways We Were

While reading the prologue and Chapter 1, I found it interesting when it said "The last phase of the great human migration to the ends of the earth took place in the Pacific Ocean and was distinctive in many ways." This quote drew my attention because I had not idea that human migration took place in the Pacific Ocean and it had a impact on how people got all around the world today. It makes you stop and think that the first humans are started together and then they drifted about to start their own lives, start new cultures, and etc. Another thing that caught my attention in this chapter was that "During long journeys across the earth, Paleolithic people created a multitude of separate and distinct societies." This quote goes back to the previous by adding that people in the Paleolithic era created separate and distinct societies. If you truly think about the Paleolithic era you will realize that the people of this era really created the way for us people in today's society. Lastly, this quote caught my attention because it ties the first two quotes together and shows how the Paleolithic people developed as a society. The quote reads, "All of this resulted in highly egalitarian societies, lacking the many inequalities of wealth and power that came later with agricultural and urban life."Although the Paleolithic people weren't wealthy or had power they continued to grow and make the best out of what they had, which was land. The came up with agriculture which the became and urban lifestyle and this sent the pathway for today's society to continue to grow and make agriculture better then it was then.
